I was planning on writing a long blog post this week about pair skating, but I had exams and I didn’t get a chance to finish it. However, I have a bit of exciting news and I figured I’d post it here.
I’ve always had a love for skating video edits. If there’s an Instagram page that audio-swaps skating programs, I’m already following it. In fact, I met my best friend through twitter because I requested a video edit of my favorite skaters and she made it for me. However, I’m not tech-savvy, so it took me several years to figure out how to make edits on my own.
So the announcement: I started a YouTube channel for skating video edits. Most of them are audio swaps, but I hope to add a few montages. I’m not currently taking requests, but I plan to upload new videos as often as possible.
I named the channel “Fairy on Ice” because as I started making these edits, I remembered how I first fell in love with the sport – at 7 years old, watching beautiful girls in magical dresses who could “fly” in their enchanted green-and-blue forest inside the Vancouver arena. These videos remind me why I loved skating in the first place, so I chose the name as a nod to my first experience with skating. My goal is to create a place where skating fans can enjoy the pure beauty of the sport in a new way.

Happy skating, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
